Furniture for the Ikhanoda Secondary School Library project was recently delivered to the school. The library is being furnished by a grant from the US Ambassador’s Self-Help Fund. (see article below)

Before delivering to Ikhanoda Secondary School, we handed over the furniture to the Regional and District authorities who had given us permission to acquire one classroom from Ikhanoda school.

Mungwe ABC Athman (second from right) explained the history of the Ambassador’s grant where PEN Trust received the funds for the library.

Singida Regional Commissioner, Honorable Parseko Kone, thanked PEN Trust for the library furniture as well as the thousands of books that have been distributed throughout his region.

The first allotment of grant money was spent on ten bookshelves…

ten study tables…

and twenty chairs.

The Ikhanoda Secondary Head Master, teachers and students alike helped PEN Trust sort the books into subject areas and organized the shelves in a matter of a few hours.

Many books still remained after filling the ten bookshelves. Seven more bookshelves were ordered.
