Don and Joanie Hawkinson’s Visit
Don and Joanie Hawkinson extended their safari and visit in Bukoba, TZ in order to spend a few days with us in Dodoma. We first met Don in Minneapolis when as our lawyer, he filed our paperwork for the 501c3 status. We are so glad they could join PEN Trust in our work and to learn more about our programs.
One of our evenings was spent with the Mwalimu Nyerere Rotary Club of Dodoma. Don and Joanie are members of the Uptown Rotary in Minneapolis, MN where Don is the President. Our hopes are to sponsor a joint container of books from Books for Africa. Here Don is receiving an honorary banner from the Dodoma Club.
Don and Joanie wanted to participate in as many PEN Trust programs as they could in their short time with us in Dodoma. One thing that is close to their hearts is Books For Africa. So, one day they helped Mungwe and I pack books for several primary schools. They were great helpers and even though is was stifling hot in the warehouse they wanted to keep going…
